From the recording HEARTBREAKERS RODEO
Michael Moxey's "Heartbreakers Rodeo" covers the ground between modern alt-country, two stepping classic country and raucous Americana. Michael's strong songwriting is matched on the album by an all-star group of musicians, including Jon Graboff (Ryan Adams and the Cardinals/Willie Nelson/Shooter Jennings), Luke Schneider (Margo Price/Teddy and the Rough Riders) and Alex McMahon (Handsome Family).
Based in New Mexico, Michael's songs reflect his experiences living across the west, from Austin to Santa Fe to Los Angeles. "Heartbreakers Rodeo" includes almost too good to be true love stories (the driving "These Are the Days," a song about an Uncle's adventures in the other Las Vegas- New Mexico), incarceration tales ("Hamilton County Jail") and fatherly advice (the 70's country-funk of "Easier Roads"). "Tiger Stripes" evokes the Eagles, while "Shining for Me," "Living Hard" and "Boot Scootin' Bandit" rely on pedal steel to help relay the sadness that comes with the loss of love and luck.
